Multi Season Elk Tag and Special Permit Applying
« on: April 26, 2022, 08:05:30 AM »
Good Morning Fellas,

I am a bit confused on this issue, but, I think I have it right. I would like to see if you guys agree.

When reading the regs closely, they state that IF you draw a multi season tag, you are able to apply for All special permits (quality elk archery and quality elk rifle for 1st choice and 2nd choice).

Example:

I drew multi season elk this year.
    - I already bought my Archery Elk Tag, so I will have to surrender my Elk Tag and buy my Multi Season.

Once Multi is purchased, does that mean I can now, with possession of a multi season, APPLY for Muzzloader Quality Elk 1st choice and Archery Quality Elk 2nd choice for the two choices on the quality elk special permit application?

I would like to mix it up like that this year if possible.

Thanks

Yes. It allows you to enter for any weapon on east or west side within the catagories of special permits you are entering for.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

This state needs to limit quality choices to 1 unit.  Single best way to improve draw odds for EVERYONE.

That wouldn't improve odds. You'd still have the exact same number of people applying for the same number of overall permits.

Yes it would.  Not going to argue but it would.  Right now low number checks all choices and then moves on to the next app.  1 choice, 1 check and then done.

Let's say there's 200 special permits available in a particular category. And let's say there are 2,000 people applying for those 200 permits. No matter how many choices a person is allowed on their application, the odds are 1 in 100 of drawing a permit.

And what if 1999 out of 2000 all pick the same unit for their 1 choice?

And what if 1999 out of 2000 all pick the same unit for their 1 choice?

Then you'd be hoping to be the one person that picked a less popular unit to apply for. But still, the overalls odds of 1 out of 100 people drawing a permit would stay the same.

It used to be four choices, they reduced it to only two. Did that suddenly make it easier for everyone to draw permits?

I like having the two choices, so I can apply for the unit with 1 in 3,000 odds as my first choice and for my second choice a unit with more reasonable odds like 1 in 50.

If permit levels had held constant then yes it improved draw odds for individual units.  Less names in the hat for each individual unit.

The problem has also been permit numbers have been reduced to extremely low historical levels.
