Ever owned an Elite Energy 32?
« on: April 29, 2022, 01:49:46 PM »
I'm just getting into archery. I shot bows for years as a kid but never a serious compound bow.

I just picked up an Elite Energy 32 off Craigslist without knowing much more than that it was a good deal. It's a 65# bow which is good for me since I'm no hulk Hogan, but the draw length is short. Does anyone have experience running or adjusting these bows?

Never heard of one until you posted this. After a few texts back and forth with a buddy or two who shoot way more archery than me. They all said find a bow shop, and have them give it a once over and have then adjust it to suit your needs. That way you know it's done right and it's inspected for dangerous situations that could be present.

I have shot Elite bows for years, a few rounds with that bow and then the Synergy and up.  You have to have mods for them that match your draw length.  You can pick those up on ebay for pretty cheap.  But you need to know your draw length first.  If you have a shop or Sportsmans nearby that is your best answer. Otherwise it takes a bow press to swap mods.

Wouldn’t he also have to change the strings as well if he changes the mods?

Short answer no because the systems are the same length for that bow series. Think of it this way, you buy an new bow at the shop, they set it up for you and have to change mods, they don’t give you a different string and cables. But if the string and cables are old/worn/questionable then the OP should replace.

I'm definitely going to need those mods you're talking about. I shot it today and in order to anchor I had to pull my head forwards and bend my elbow quite a bit to make up for the short draw. The string seems fine no major fraying and the guy told me it wasn't that old. If I put those mods on is that going to increase my draw weight too?

Welcome to the splinter throwers!

Northwest nailed it, you will need a module to change the draw length.  Mods will not alter draw weight.  Def find a good shop and have them get the correct module installed as well as setup the bow/sights for your natural anchor and hold.

They are GREAT bows.  I have a Elite Energy 35 and love it.  Just a great shooting bow.

Determine draw length by standing against a wall. Measure middle finger tip to middle finger tip span. Divide by 2.5 or span -15” and divide by 2. That number should give you a good idea. Like for me my span is 74”. So my number is 29.6” the first way or 29.5” the second method. I could shoot a 29.5” draw mod but I tested the 30” mod and it felt more comfortable.

With a 71" span depending on which calculation I do I either have a 28" draw or a 28.4" draw. The bow is currently set at 27". It's shootable but I definitely notice that it's short. These mods don't seem like they'd be laying around in every archery shop. I wish there was some small adjustments you could make on the cams so I could order a 28" or 28.5 and adjust it until comfortable. Maybe it's not that big of a difference..

Elite makes some of the most underrated bows ever.  I shoot the Impulse 34 and Spokane Valley Archery had draw mods there for me.

I agree with that statement. I shoot a Elite Option 7 I got off eBay a couple years ago. Best bow I've ever owned/shot. I had to order the mods from Elite. They had them to me in less than a week. I think Elite is more popular back east.

Let me see if I still have some draw mods, if I have the right ones I’ll send them to you. Give me a couple days though, I’ll have to dig around.

I still have my E35 I bought from JBar 8 or 10 years ago. Still love it. You definitely need the mods. Hopefully he can dig some up.

Enjoy

My Impulse is the same way.  The only problem with that, you have to almost push forward to let down.  Kind of torques the shoulder.

Yeah let me know which ones you have I can throw some cash your way if they're ones that could work for my draw length.

I have a couple of draw mods for an E35 that I don't need.  Not sure if they will fit your E32 or not.  They are the "EN 3" top and bottom.  I believe these are for a 30" draw length.

I looked online and for energy 32 that will make it a 29" draw. That might work for me since it's only a half inch off
