has anyone in here had the chance to hunt up with the quinalt reservation outfitters i know there is more than one outfitter up there on the reservation but was wondering what its like up there if any of you have had the chance to hunt that up there? if you have pictures lets see them from there

I've never been there, and I don't have any pics, but I know a few guys that hunted with them this spring, and they had a great time and saw lots of bears.

Here is what I know....there are bears there and it costs a lot.

Last I knew there was no lodging and you can't camp on the rez. The bears are pretty well trained and you should see a few. Most are average, 200 lbs or less. It costs too much.

I remember laughing when I saw how much it cost. I mean the kind of laugh that you might rupture something. Other than that, nope.

I am dead set against giving any of my hard earned post tax cash to any tribal member, for any reason. Guide service, casino, tribal gas station, music venue, boxing match, fireworks. Ain't gonna happen.

The federal government already gives the tribes my hard earned money thru taxation.

Went last year, saw lots of bears ended up shooting one 225# with my bow. My two buddies also shot bears in the 200# range. One buddy had one of the "big" ones around his stand for 30 minutes just wouldn't come close enough for a shot. He guessed that one around 350 - 400#. Cost was not bad, paid 1700 total for the guide and tags. Stayed at the Quinault river inn nice little place owned by someone I think in the Gig Harbor area. I know allot about it. My cousin is chief of the QIN. There are tons of bears and tons of guides. Most are hunting over bait. And some right at stink bridge. Its were all the seafood compost is dumped from the tribal fish plant.

Some guides are doing more baiting, some more traditional. Its all what you want.

There are also HUGE bears up there. Not just the smalls. 2 weeks ago I had a shot at a easy 400+ up by Cook creek. He was 200 yards off and wouldend respond to a call. Actually I believe 400 is being very modest. This bear could have gone 5 or better...

I had a garbage can full of crab guts and razor guts. Could have dumped them and waited him out. But shooting in general was our mission. I did call John and let him know were the bear was.

Some wont pay to play, some will. If anyone needs a recomendation for a good guide PM me. When the tribe allowed the bear hunts seemed everyone became an expert and got there guide licence.

So be careful if you hire someone with no credentials or references.

As far as camping, you can get a tribal permit right at the tribal office in Tahola. You just need permission from the tribe. And your near lake Quinault, some great camping in the area. As well motels at amanda Park.

Yes it is spendy, and Ted Nugent even payed to play. John Bryson and Robin Rhoades are just 2 that give a great experience.

I guy I work with took his daughter and nephew there last year and had a great time. The kids took decent bears and he shot a monster. He also took some good video and saw a ton of bears. If I remember right there is a link to who he used.

You've got to be kidding me! $1700? That's lot of fuel, more cases for my wildcat magnum, a rangefinder, new sleeping bag, a trail cam...

For not garanteeing a Bear that's well above average for this state. I'll take my chances on public land.

some of the biggest black bear in the lower 48 and plenty of them. Wait until general season and hunt around the rez.

Never heard of a second for $50. Used to be a second was $500. But I do know that many Q fishing guides let you keep as many steelies as you want so why would bear be any different?

Thats 1700 for 3 guys and 3 bears...and yes, another for 50 bucks...but youll have to pay the guide again too.

My friends and I, back when we didn't know anybetter, hunted and camped on the rez. Ran into a few indians. They were passably friendly, asked if we were after bear. Saw a few bears, nothing huge. Lots of super ugly clear cuts. For the price, it's not worth it to me. Much better hunting for the normal price of a tag elsewhere.

If $1700 scares you try booking a guide on Vancouver Island!

Between the 3 of us hunting we saw 16 bears in the 3 days of hunting.

I'm actually going to try a guide in Idaho next spring that has a bunch of color phase bears.

Too rich for my blood, but I have read some articles about the Quinnault bears. Sounds like a good hunt...
