10MM Rock Island vs Glock
« on: May 03, 2022, 06:09:44 PM »
As the title states which 10MM would you purchase? Looking at Glock and Rock Island, what else is good in 10MM? I love Kimber, but it seems a bit much compared to these two. Thoughts?

Thanks

Ive shot both and own the g40(longslide g20) and shot a buddies kimber in 10mm , Needless to say he sold his kimber and bought a glock 20 . The extra capacity is definetly an added bonus .

I don't have a problem with Glocks as I have a few but I prefer my Kimber.  Not only looks good but shoots lights out

I have a Sig TACOPS 1911 10mm that I like pretty well.  I used to have a G20 and it was ok.  What about one of the Springfield XD-M 10mm??

I bought a model 20 to tide me over until I can get my hands on a Rock Ultra HC.  I looked at a M-40, but it was higher priced.

I'm a Glock fan, and still want the Rock Island.

Personally I would like both. I have a G20 and it’s my all conditions I don’t care about gun. I did put a match grade barrel on it to alleviate the glock bulge. If you don’t rebarrel you’ll only get two reloads.

Only issue I had with rock island model was it was much heavier, so take that into account in your purchase.

Out of the two I would go with the Rock Island .  Kimber is for sure nice but a bump in price  . I went with Fusion Firearms though  :chuckle:
These are both wearing an RMR now

I absolutely love my G20.

I have no experience with the Rock Island.

The glock was described to me as being the ak-47 of the pistol world. Can beat them to hell and back and they’ll still function and shoot. I’m hard on stuff and figured it would be too fancy to go with a kimber or rock island. That being said, I went with a g20

I had a G20, 10mm, much prefer the XD-M, 10mm.
But that is a personal preference. Shoot as many as you can and find the one you prefer.

I love my Kimber Special II in .45. Kimber makes exceptional pistols.

I didn’t like the fit of the G20, and the G29 and new compact XDM elite felt too small for 10mm.  Just brought home an M&P today which seemed like the best polymer 10mm to me.

Not to thread jack but this is the direction I’m thinking of going. I’m looking for a high cap 10 and that leaves m&p, glock, and rock island. The glock is to wide for my hand so it’s ruled out which I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to a battle tested firearm. Have you shot it yet? How’s the recoil? The medium grip is a bit to deep but thinking the small swell will work great.

I own both... and not being a Glock fanboy at all.... AND a huge 1911/2011 fan.... For self-defense, I would 100% go with the glock (and I do) with 200gr hardcast at 1500fps, with an upgraded lone Wolf Barrel and recoil system.   Just me..
