REM 770 is a disposable.  Horrible triggers and no after market support.  They seem to shoot ok but not great.

I have the Mossberg Patriot in 6.5CM. Basic model, wood stock, nothing fancy. Excellent shooter. I haven't owned or shot a 770.

All I have to say is when the 770 first came out, I couldn't believe they could make a rifle for theselling price. When I handled one at the store, I couldn't believe they were selling a rifle of that poor quality at any price. They may shoot ok, but the fit, finish and trigger were abysmal imo.

If you want affordable Remington I would 783.
Adjustable trigger with decent accuracy.

Axis there pretty dang good for the price.

I've used both those a lot.

I can't speak for the Mossberg ,I was going to buy one at Wally world and didn't.
My wife uses a Mossberg ,like the cheap ones ,ATR100,
It seems to shoot well, and wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

I know nothing I write is helping ,but it's all I got.

A buddy and I have both bought Mossberg Patriots in 6.5 PRC, because the price seemed too cheap to be true. $369 for his stainless synthetic and $429 for my camo cerakoted. Both fluted barrels that are threaded. Adjustable triggers, pic rails, spiral bolts, and great recoil pads. With factory ammo, his shoots sub .5 MOA at 100 yds and mine was .6 - .75 MOA. I would personally look no further in this class of rifle. :twocents:

My daughter has that rifle, it's great and has worked perfect for what it is. I have recommended it countless times for a budget rifle that shoots well.

I have heard that there have been issues with newer ones, ours is maybe 7-8 years old so I can only comment on the one we have.

Google a bit, you might find more info on what the issue was, I don't even remember now.
