SPOT PRAWN SEASON 2022
« on: May 20, 2022, 05:41:01 PM »
Well it's among us and with the recent crap weather the Halibut fishing in 3 and 4 hasn't been consistent. Hoping the quota gets pushed into late June and maybe July. Now I don't have to chose so I am focusing on the upcoming Hood Canal prawn season. It's such a fun fishery, low key, easy, and great opportunity to take friends who usually don't do any type of fishing.

so i guess I don't have status here because I can't post more than 2 pics LOL.  Or are pics discouraged on this forum?  Let me know I can delete them, thanks!

Pretty sure 2 pics per post is just a system limitation.

I've seen lot of folks post large groups of pics.... just 2 at a time.

Oh, and great pics!

Anyone know if the Tulalips will still be at the Everett ramp on Wednesday?  If so, it's going to be a very ugly situation.

Rocky Point south to Camano Head in Saratoga Passage 230-280 if you can find it. Really short opener but it is close to Stanwood. Watch the current it does run pretty good through there, and the middle of the passage can get rough. Used to go to Mabana on the southern end and did ok, but that's when we had all day, and not a four hour opener. You will see where to set shrimp pots on the opener there will be plenty of boats out to show you.  :)

I don't know how Puget Sound and North was but the Hood Canal was rocking some south winds 15MPH and rough water from 6:30 till we left at 12:30.  IT was a zoo with pots hooked up and quite the show.  We moved our gear out of the honey holes and did great!  3 limits with 5 pulls but it was tough with one guy not being able to leave the helm. Didn't see one game warden, not one airplane, and not one park worker at the state launch.  Overall it was below average for the amount of people on the water for the opener.
