Kettle River

Anybody on here ever fish the Kettle River? Specifically in the Curlew area. I’ve heard there is decent trout there , just thinking about giving it a shot and dragging the drift boat over there

Used to.   Nice river to fish.  It kinda reminds me of deliverance once in awhile.  Que the banjo music.  It will be a little bit before the water flow goes down.

I've fished from the Laurier to the mouth a fair amount, it's good when you hit it right, but never fished Curlew area, always wanted to and also heard it can be good fishing.

Ya it’s definitely been creeping up. Will probably let it start dropping a bit before I float it . I bought some property on the river , going to drag the drift boat over there and leave it there for the summer.

I've seen some very large trout swimming around in there while floating it on an inner tube some years back.  Nice looking river.

Danville to Ferry is the "upper kettle river", it gets very shallow mid summer, I haven't fished it as much.

Laurier to Lake Roosevelt is the lower Kettle, a lot of that water is from the Granby River which merges with the Kettle in Grand Forks BC, it has a ton of walleye from Barstow down smacking the rainbows and brooks, but there's walleye all the way to Laurier though just not as many.  The river got smoked by walleye and high water temps and there was a trout dieoff

As many years I’ve spent traveling to Curlew/Danville area, I’ve yet to see anyone fishing that river. I would also like to know more about it.

I haven’t seen a single person fishing up there in the last 3 yrs - have seen decent sized trout - ( have always been over there in the summer when it’s low and the water is warm) this yr will be there in the spring and fall a bunch

Yep fished both sides of Curlew but that was many moons ago.

Sweet!! I’m gonna take a whack at it - couple locals said it’s good, but I’ve never seen anybody fishing it

 Don't forget about the Northerns. Last year during the fire festival I would guess it got pretty O2 deprived and killed a bunch of fish. As hot as the temps got last year.

My uncle had a commercial type raft in the late 80's  and we floated the upper Kettle a handful of times.  Fishing was always decent for trout and whitefish.
