It's a great feeling to hunt with your children!
Started my daughter when she was 15. That was 20 yrs ago. Time flies quickly.
I get a few tears when thinking back seeing the photos on my wall. 3pt mule deer her I'st year and a cow elk the next.
Miss the times together as she has moved to Alaska, but her husband does not hunt. Sad.
Have you given any thought as to the caliber of riffle your child/children would be using?
I chose a 7mm/08 in a Rem700 MTN. Fantastic set up for youths and small structured persons.
Hope you have some " Great Times " as I have had.

Yep.  Started both boys at 12 years old, and 30+ years later we still hunt together.  The memories and stories are priceless.

We chose Browning A-Bolt rifles in .30-'06 as their first rifles.  They still carry those Brownings, and they are as accurate as ever.

We put in for the permit draws every year, and as partners for some of them.  Hopefully we will be rewarded this year.

grandsons first draw last year. Desert unit. 7mm mauser. Grandaughter says she's getting the same hunt for her first draw this year. first rule of the draw is optimism right. then losers lounge. lol
If either of them draw anything it will be like a free pass out the lounge for me.

Hunting with the kids is the way to go.  My hunting the last 3-4 years consist of the kids.  I have been grossly unsuccessful due to the amount of time I invest in my kids hunts.  They on the other hand have been plenty successful which makes me amazingly successful.  Bear, turkey, moose, deer.....all they need now is an elk.  Hopefully this is the year for them to get that marked off the bucket list.  (full disclosure....the moose was a Canada hunt...they are not that lucky.  :chuckle:)

Is it time to panic that results might not come out today??
