Best thing Washington can do is make everyone chose only 3 categories a year to submit

The new return permit policy is the only reason I put in for buck and quality 16/20. Been holding on to buck for 10 years without applying.
I didn't realize that was an option if you drew two different permits.  No more points only option for me next year.  This is going to make everyones odds even longer and increase point creep.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Probably, it will show everyone’s cards instead of building points and jumping in every 10 or 15 years

I think 1 option or 2 max would be better!

Although I like the idea a lot, wdfw won't do that due to revenue. But it would probably help a lot.

I mean one choice per application, wouldn’t change revenue at all.

Gotcha. Yeah both options could make a difference in the draw. 1 or 2 choices. Or 1 or 2 catagories for deer and elk. Something needs a change. I personally liked our old draw system. 4 choices for deer and elk total.

Been said before but I think making people choose between OIL’s and deer/elk would help a bit, but also having people pay for the OIL tags in order to apply would also help with draw odds.  I could see several thousand less applicants for OIL’s if they did this.  The deer/elk draws are only getting worse, lots of ideas out there but in the end, going to an Idaho system of no points would be best. I think all states with the points system will have to eventually come up w something different. Wyoming is already getting out there so far that new hunters will just not apply, or shouldn’t. Max for Wyoming goes up every couple years or so from what I see. It was 13 when I drew in 18’, I think it’s 14 now?  If WDFW just stopped the point system and let people draw out, that would be a good start.

With one point would be pretty damn lucky, but even w the 21 points I had in 19’ was pretty damn lucky.  There were 13,000+ applicants when I drew, good luck. But yeah, you’d be a *censored* if you draw!!

I opted for points on my mule deer quality permit, fuel is way to expensive to do it this year.🤯

When I drew my bull moose permit, I drove over to the Eastside from the wet side every other weekend starting from June till October. Put on over 1,000 miles during my 10 days of hunting, can not imagine doing that at todays diesel prices! I’d need to refi the house!
