Went out today, whole boat caught limits of halibut and rock fish. Was alittle windy late morning.
Our last trip for Halibut out of Westport (in May) was during the time of day when the Tide was at it's lowest, fighting headwinds we headed into 20 foot swells as we crossed the Bar. We were in a 36 Foot Charter Boat with a seasoned Skipper who said that in his Thirty years out on the water, this was about as bad as he had seen it. Half way out the Coast Guard heading in came alongside and asked if we were a Charter? When the Skipper said "Yes", they allowed us to proceed, shouting "Good Luck to you!"When we arrived at the Fishing Grounds, only three of us out of the group were in any shape to go Fishing as everyone else was "Chumming". What a time we had, catching Limits for everyone else. The best part of the trip was back Dockside, when everyone finally "came to again" and got their Sea legs under them. With sore arms we handed them their bags of Halibut saying here's your Limit! They looked cross-eyed at us and asked "When did we catch these?"
