2 Young Lions
« on: May 28, 2022, 09:24:44 PM »
Hmmm, should I be worried?  :)  While I was over picking up 5 piglets, these two young lions were out and about in broad daylight.  This is the second time in a week I have one of them on camera.  They are about 500 to 600 yards from the cabin.

Thanks, good catch, they would certainly eat your new critters and come back looking for more

I agree
Young cats are most likely your worst nightmare.
Keep an eye on your pets.

It also could be just one cat that paused there for awhile.  :twocents:

Hey Fred, I can't zoom in, are they mottled still, or pretty smooth colored?

Littermates will stick together for awhile after Mamma boots them, but not that long. If they're still slightly spotted (faded) it's likely Mamma is still around. The two together are a pretty lethal killing machine, with Mamma, they're unbelievable (close to two kills per week.) If there's still prey around, they don't roam far until they're alone.

In any case, definitely take measures to get some early warning.

Are your cur dogs gone?lions  Still open - I wouldn’t shoot one but I would sure chase them. A tree or 2 will most likely convince them to find new area. Btw I got 2 bored blueticks would love to help 😂

Saw moose close to your place recently, couple hundred elk within 30 miles and a few, darn few, deer.  Food is about but your new purchases would be a welcome snack.  Be careful out there

Yea I had a moose in the yard a few days ago and a bunch of elk and deer on the same camera as the cats.

The more I look at the photo taken at 1051, the more I think it is Mom and not a young lion.  Anyone else able to blow them up and look a little closer?

Reminds me of this one from a long while back. This was a mile or so from my in-laws house and dairy goat herd. The goats have never been bothered knock on wood.
