favorite gaiters
« on: June 09, 2022, 09:12:03 AM »
What gaiters are your favorite and why? For a long time I ran just the old school ones from cabelas that zipped up the back and hooked on the front lace of you boot. Prior to last season I grabbed a pair of Kenetrek because I liked the idea of no zipper as well as the strap underneath the boot. They are ok but I am not sold.

I have a pair of OR gaiters and have used some variety of OR for 30 years.  They do what they are supposed to and last a long time.

Gaiters aren't something I get too worked up about.

I am one that always is tinkering with gear to find what I like and what works for me. Gaiters are important for my late season hunts as it feels like they tend to be more in wet snow or even rain versus back in the day when it was almost always powdery snow.

My first lite gaiters are holding up well. Never had any issues with them.

Kenetreks were the quietest I've used, but durability was terrible. Finally gave up and went back to the ORs which have my vote as the best overall.

Outdoor Research crocodiles. Been using them for 30 years I think. They last a long time.

I've found Kuiu gaiters to be the best. They actually stay up on your calf because of the rigid material. They also have the shorter scree gaiters which are great for warm weather early season. I have owned Kenetrek and OR gaiters which would not stay up on my calf as well.  The material is too pliable and saggy.

I bought a set of PEAX last year and have been more than happy with them. They stay up and are built really well.

OR Crocs for sure, as long as you don’t need or want dead silent. OR makes several different varieties. You can’t try my Crocs but I’ve got some OR Rocky Mountains that might fit you. Happy to send them to you. Text me.

I have been using the Kenetreks for a while and got a new pair last year... the new ones aren't near as good as the older version... a little disapointed.
