Boy TH, that's a fantastic bull. Nice job on the finger, too. Get it stitched.
The wife works w doctors so she called them on the way home, but when you are past 24 hours they don’t like to stick it. We’ve been cleaning it and keeping a wrap on it.  The doc said it should be fine, I’ll just have a bigger scar, who doesn’t on their hands.

Thank you guys, really appreciate the kind words!  Moose are becoming one of my favorites now, just a cool animal.  There size is unbelievable!

Great job, that's got to be very satisfying following a lead and having a great DIY experience.  Moose are so much cooler, bigger, and more mysterious than you realize until you are hunting them. I also have the tag and have 8 days in at this point, 7 were all on foot, 1 day we did the "Sherman 500" and road hunted mostly to look at some ground for the later half of the season. Hoping the bull move up out of the Alders and into the burns.  We were able to put eyes on 3 bulls on foot in the first 3 days, nothing since. Seemed to me like the rut peaked from the 5th - 10th based on my trail cam pics, then went pretty quiet. We were finding lots of rubs and fresh tracks early in the season and it seemed like everything was laid up these past few days. At least as far as I can tell.  Digging a bull out of some this timber is quite a challenge. We had bulls grunting and moving early, but have failed to be able to call anything in with anything other than making noise with our feet.  We did manage to call in a wolf to about 6 yards, that was intense.

Good luck to your wife, maybe we'll cross paths later in the year.  I'll post some pics and a report on another thread at some point.

Looking at his website has he updated any photos from 2017?

http://archery-outfitter.com/

We use the very best 3rd cutting certified weed free alfalfa that there is in the valley, 25 tons of it, 5 tons apples, 5 tons of corn, along with 2 tons salt, trace minerals, & selenium.

He's got a ton of money into a Chum line.

Went for a cruise yesterday and saw they have cut in a new road after the Mack mountain fire to south boulder creek. It had a ton of traffic on it and some interesting signage.

So wolf impact has skyrocketed, baiting law changed to 10 gallons per day, that alone would be disastrous for a guide.   :dunno:

Josh told me his site is out of date, they are working on it. But with talking w him, he’s a straight shooter, and working hard for his current client.  We hope we can spend time w him in the late season, but we are preparing to DIY.  If his client pays him till the end of the season, the wife and I will stay in the wall tent and get it done.  Can’t wait for the snow to fly!! Flygiude, best of luck to you, hopefully we can share a beer. Be back over there nov 17-26.

Few years ago, friend was doing the late rifle (deer) here in 121 and watched a bull drop one on the 18th, grabbed it after bull walked over a small rise then went in and got the other one the next day.  Certainly the exception, but ya never know.

That would be a bummer to see a big bull w one side!! If I have to pull one out w my crab rope, I’ll stay away from the head gear!

Several years ago, there was a member who either had the tag or was involved in a moose hunt. I think they had the horns fall off when they shot it. I'm sure they could post up the photos if they read this.
