2022 Wenaha Any Ram
« on: June 15, 2022, 07:34:45 AM »
After 23 years, God blessed me with a little luck! Absolutely ecstatic to say the least. Anyone have any tips to help a new sheep hunter prepare? Any and all advice will be highly appreciated. Going to start a workout regimen today. If anyone wants to come scouting with me, shoot me a DM. I’ll be over there quite a bit this summer. Hopefully I can take a ton of great pics to post along the way and share the experience with you all

Congrats!!!  I was a first time sheep hunter last year....and now I can't stop thinking about it and want to figure out how to afford to do more.  Welcome to the addiction.  Have a great time and enjoy every minute of it.  They are the coolest most random critters to just sit and watch.

As for workouts, take a look at the MtnTough workout programs.  They are legit.

The only other "advice" is to practice some steep angle shooting if you don't do it already.  The extreme angle got me and I launched a couple or three rounds WAY over my ram last year.

Feel free to send me a message. I saw quite a few good rams in that unit last year

Thank you guys for all the emails and offering of help. You guys are amazing, thank you so much! Now I need to figure out if I should use an outfitter or diy. Not a man made of money unfortunately. Maybe someone will call saying they want to make a hunting show out of it and in return they’ll pay for the outfitter hahahaha wishful thinking.

One would think.   But that was not my experience with my range finder.  But that's a topic for another thread.   I still recommend finding somewhere to practice some shots at angles greater than 45 degrees.

We are struggling been at it for 8 days and haven’t found the sheep. Had multiple buddies/guys drop out on going on the hunt less than 2 weeks before it started and been lucky to get one guy to go in with me the last few days. Any help at this point would be hugely appreciated or if anyone wants to come join us as an extra set of eyes that would be awesome too. Been in back country glassing over 8 hours a day in between hikes. This hunt is definitely not for the weak of mind or body. But it has been a blast either way to this point and tag filled or not will be one of my favorite hunts of all time. Hopefully we can find the rams soon!
