senior and disabled pheasant hunt in southwest washington
« on: September 18, 2022, 10:23:30 AM »
Rumor on the street has it that there is a senior and disabled pheasant hunt in Southwest Washington ,Clark County specifically.
After a lengthy search of the WDFW website and general Google search I cant find the locations for these hunts. Clark County has a few release sites such as Vancouver Lake, Shillapoo Lake, Woodland Bottoms, But I cant seem to find any concrete information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Terry

So, basically all of Western Washington is open for pheasant for 65+ and hunters with disabilities from
Sept. 19-23.

The only real options for pheas in W. Wash for most hunters are the release areas. The release areas are open during this season, including those you mentioned.

The hunting at the release areas is generally much better if there have been recent releases of birds. Generally, they start releasing birds for the youth season and have releases through the senior/disabled season and on through the general season. Exactly when they happen is more up in the air. Most of the more popular sites get more birds more frequently. Most releases are typically on weekends, then often mid-week. In this case, with the season starting on Monday I can't say if they would do additional releases, but that would seem appropriate.

This link gives lots of info about the program:https://wdfw.wa.gov/sites/default/files/publications/02332/wdfw02332.pdf

A call to the regional office could answer all of your questions. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Bullkllr,
Thanks for the reply. That is the same information that I was able to find.
I was under the mistaken impression that these hunts were closely managed and supervised complete with check-in and check-out
etc...

Thank You,
Terry
