I was in Bass Pro on Saturday and today attempting to exchange my archery elk tag for a modern tag. Saturday and today they had to call were being told that I can’t exchange because I have multiseason tag. Oh really??? No, I don’t have a multiseason elk tag. So they called a third time and finally got a real answer. That’s when I learned I can’t exchange my tag because I applied for special hunts (was not drawn) which really ticked me off.

Its always been that way, if you apply for special permits for one weapon then you cant exchange it for another weapon if you werent drawn. H3ll, everyone would be doing that.
Wait, what? They won’t give the tags because you put in for special hunts? That should only matter if you’re exchanging for another weapon not multi season! You should probably call in yourself and get that clarified! I’m 90% sure that’s not right!
No drawing today? Is there any site that shows when the drawings will be
I called today to ask and the lady I spoke with said “ she knew there would be a 2nd drawing but not sure when or how many tags were even available still “.. typical

It's definitely their policy.Quote from: kirkl on August 23, 2022, 07:18:47 AMQuote from: dreadi on August 22, 2022, 11:33:49 PMI was in Bass Pro on Saturday and today attempting to exchange my archery elk tag for a modern tag. H3ll, everyone would be doing that.Yes, I agree and I learned it's historically been that way unless you apply for points only. My issues with this instance is that the more than once, the W&F person on the phone told Bass Pro that I couldn't exchange because "he has a multiseason elk tag"....which I did not get selected for. Also the rules of having to make these choices months in advance leaves no room for major schedule changes in the future. Especially having paid up front for the applications. In my mind it goes down like this:Didn't get drawn? No problem.Oh look, a business opportunity that takes up half the general archery season...let me go exchange for modern. Oh..I paid to apply for special hunts, didn't get drawn, and can't exchange? To me that's bad business. It's no fault of theirs that I have schedule change and WF doesn't loose revenue if I exchange a tag. The person at W&F that I spoke with said, "you applied for special hunts. we consider that use of the tag." My rhetorical question is, "How does that help manage wildlife?"
