This is insane.  I went to the local Fred Meyer to turn in my current tag and have my multiseason tag issued to me.  The befuddled clerk had no idea how to do it, saying they couldn't find a way to take the current tag back.  Total clusterf@#k.

So damn depressing! First year in as long as I can remember that I won’t have a multiple season deer tag.
Sure wish I would have known prior to putting in for special permits.
Extremely frustrating!
Same here.  Been years since I haven't had a mltseason permit. Kinda screws up my season a little.

I bet there would be 0 tags left OTC right now!
or front the money at the time the application goes in.  Would keep the tire kickers out.

I bought a muzzle deer tag because it’s my favorite general season.. was going to just buy multi cause i wanted to run around the high hunt this year with a rifle. looks like I’ll be sticking to muzzle only.

The store clerk has to call the WDFW license agent to clear the tag for sale if you already have a different tag. They will be confused and try to do it themselves. Tell them right from the get go they have to call or it won’t work. Save yourself some hassle.

So....I'm very glad to finally be eligible to purchase.  Went to store to purchase this morning (Saturday).  The store called and were told that they cannot override my modern tag.  Tried to escalate to a supervisor who confirmed only WDFW can cancel that tag during normal business hours.  Looks like I need to wait until Monday.  There could be some frustrated people who wait until next weekend.

I got mine the first go around and was able to do the tag exchange on a Saturday.  :dunno:

I wonder if I just encountered people that just didn't know what they were doing...

seems to me they should just open it up on Monday to OTC if they want to sell more of them.

Call me, they will sell one.
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

So there is still a chance.

Third round of multi-season tags to be awarded - 65 surplus elk, 1388 deer
Hunters who bought a multi-season permit application for elk or deer earlier this year, but were not selected in the last drawing, may be one of the additional people selected for surplus elk or deer multi-season tags. Hunters will be notified this week via email.
If you’re notified that you can buy one of the remaining multi-season tags, you have 10 days from the day of the email was sent to buy your tag. Make sure you pay attention to the expiration date.

Don’t go to Walmart to exchange the tag. Go to Sportsman’s or a sporting goods store.

The Cabelas in Marysville did a great job of exchanging my old tag and issuing me my multiseason tag.   The clerk who helped me said that she had done this for many people who had unsuccessfully tried to do it elsewhere first.
