Fall Turkey techniques, methods, tactics
« on: September 01, 2022, 03:33:50 PM »
It looks like I may have an opportunity to hunt turkeys near spokane on some private land this fall. I've never done it. I've had some successes in the Spring, but that's when they are mating and a whole different ball game. What are some methods I should use, think about? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

*edit Just remembered I have this book.

The most used tactic in my neck of the woods is to drive around and find turkeys in someone's yard, get out of your rig and flock shoot them, and then sprint to grab all the birds that dropped and forget the wounded ones, then squeal tires getting down the road. Sad but true around Bissell Road and Hwy 25.

OR, if you want to do it the right way, find where the flock roosts and set up between the roosting area and any water source. They usually head for water shortly after fly down. Hunt them like you could hunt deer. LOTS of small baby turkeys right now...shoot a couple toms
