35 other tags or so.  If that is true it's not a quality tag on the Eastside and is there any bull tags with that many on the Eastside don't have the regs in front of me

There is one with 36 tags. That sounds like the one.
Yep finally got a chance to look at the regs.  There is a bull hunt with 36.

And it’s a good one.

Sorry. I completely forgot about my joke of a thread. So yeah it’s da Rimrock tag and I know that I/we’ve got our work cut out for us. Likely 3-4 miles max per day depending on elevation. We’re gonna try and get in the best shape ever…we’ll see how that goes. With little ones I ain’t missing Halloween and I don’t even have to ask about whether we should hunt the early or late part of the hunt…so early it is.
I’ve already had to battle with “should I buy a Howa?” And “the interweb says tree hundred and fidy inches”
I say you need to practice with the gun you have and I know that most mortal men poop themselves when they see a 280 bull.
I can pull the trigger and I will but hopefully only after a solid first shot is placed, talk smack about that and you can come pack him out!! I want him down and out before I start the packin!!
And we’re off…

Myself, I don't care if people ask for help/information because to me there isn't any real secrets in elk country.  I have been lucky to draw 3 quality bull tags, Rimrock muzz tag this year and I have been over there 2x since I found out I drew it.  Your rifle tag will be tough.  Amazing elk country and it has recent fires.  Major drainages, some real steep country and the unit runs up into goat country another cool area some people might know about :chuckle:  Some prime PRIVATE ground checker board in the West side of the unit. There is a wash out issue on a major road fyi.  I know the unit well and I know where I will be starting out hunting come my season but the whole unit holds elk and I have seen 8 elk and 4 bulls in my two trips over there. The elk are moving into this summer ground right now. Remember, June was wet and snow melted late.  If you see where the unit sits vs where elk winter and the feeding stations (if you know where they are and not just the well known ones)  you can figure out how you want to hunt it.  So I am not telling you anything you couldn't figure out with one scouting trip or research on the computer. Good luck no matter who has the tag 35 other people in the unit doesn't mean crap and won't effect your hunt.  So that is what I will share as a fellow hunter in hopes it will help motivate you even more to doing your research. Please don't PM me.  Thanks Mike

Make sure you have your hunter companion card from wdfw on you at all times. Also make sure you understand the rules of hunting/helping/hunter companion/disabled hunter rules etc. I am sure you already know.

“Please don’t PM me” if there’s anything that affirms why forums have dropped off that’ll do it. I think I’ll make it my signature!!
Let’s not forget that my post was specifically saying that I WAS NOT asking for help in the first place.
I concede that you’re higher and mightier than me…actually Ive been here a long arse time and helped people and received help. You could likely look up my bulls if you wanted…lucky for you I don’t post on the fishing stuff.
Also, please don’t PM me.

Hell, nowadays I'd poop myself if I saw a 4-point!

One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

Sorry I didn't mean to offend anyone, nor sound arrogant because there is no arrogance in elk hunting.  In my experience if you offer some information people tend to ask for more.  Anyways good luck on the tag and good luck to everyone this fall season it's coming quick.

I'm just glad I didn't offer any advice or send a PM....

I'm keeping my knowledge of that unit to myself out of pure self preservation... :chuckle:

Disabled vet got his first bull. I’ve seen a lotta bulls in my day but never a true 2x3…6x6s are for suckers, those are everywhere. Great hunt experience for him, makes my heart happy.

Awesome, I'm sure it was a great experience, I know being with my dad on his first bull was amazing.
