2021 Kelly Hill spring bear rug back
« on: July 06, 2022, 03:10:48 PM »
Took my bear from last year to Wildlife Obsessions in Duvall to have him rugged and got it back last week.

I had it rugged with no backing at all (just tanned hide) so i could put it on a trapper frame I bought a while back and mount as though I it was being packed out.  Added a game bag and zip tied an old barrel to an old rifle stock to round the mount out.

I need to re-pack it as i am not totally happy with the look.  The skin is bulky and overwhelms the frame a bit.

Bear aged at 7 years and measured 5 foot 8 inches so not a monster.  But the fur was nice and thick.

  Great!  Good way to display in limited space.  Hoping to get mine in a month or so.

Cool looking mount. Great way to remember the hunt and a fine bear.

Thanks everyone - wish I could say I thought of the idea but I saw it on another website (can't recall which one) and thought it was a nice way to display it without having it on the ground for the dogs to mess around with.

I really need to repack it better.  I tried again last night and still not happy.  Will work on it a it more.  just a lot of tanned skin to roll up on a small frame.  Can't imagine what it would be like with backing on it!

Looking fwd to seeing your bear GH!

BTW, Wildlife Obsessions in Duval did well by me.  Reasonable turnaround (13-14 months) at a fair price.
