Cellular game camera

I have owned 3 cameras in the past.
Cannot remember brands, but the first one quit after 3 months.
The second one lasted 3 years before I had an issue.
It was acting like it worked, but "files were corrupted" and I was only able to retrieve about 10% off of my sd card.

Thinking it was the SD card, I got a new one.
I tested it at home, and it worked fine.
.
Next time I checked it I had a bunch of pictures, but when I tried to see them,

So I bought a new one off of Camofire, used it in my backyard for a few weeks, and it was awesome.
.
I went and set it up to take some pictures.
.
All excited to see what's on my new camera, I take the trip to go check it.
Then I hike in to check it.
.
ITS GONE!
.
My cable lock and bear box, bolt cut padlock laying on the ground.
Holes in the tree from my screws....

I gave up.
.
.
After having my whole camp stolen (off of private property behind a locked gate)  :'(


 I want one that transmits pictures to my phone.

Even if they steal it, I'll find out who they were.
.
.
And I won't have to drive, and hike, into the spot to check it.

Win/win!

So, if you had say...$300 max.
I like the idea of 2 cameras.

Most reliable?
Battery life?
Doesn't require a specific data carrier.

I have have a cheap phone and phone service.

I have had several stolen off of private property pretty close to you. One issue is that the cell reception is poor where the cameras are. I will be watching this thread. It would be great to find the dude who has all of my cameras.
It is super frustrating. It seems like there is a tremendous amount of camera theft in Lewis Co. west of I-5. Maybe it is that way everywhere.

I actually will not be putting up a camera in Lewis county.
(Learned my lesson)

The area I plan is in Pacific county, and on Hancock land.
Access is limited, but cell phone works everywhere.

Actually, my "cheap" plan usually works better than others, because it uses available towers it can get a signal, not just one.

I've been plenty happy with my spypoint.  If you don't get a solar charging battery version or external battery with solar panel....they eat through batteries.

I just placed my first two this weekend, but I bought Tactacam Reveal X's (think they just go by Reveal now). I'm pretty impressed with how easy they were to setup and the app functionality. One thing that's awesome is you can connect to it while you're next to it and it will show on your phone the view. No more guessing, "is it aimed right?" I'm on the $8/month/cam plan, 500 photos.

My buddy's stealthcams have been reliable. Only failure was when the tree it was attached to blew down...think you can get those on Camofire on Tuesday's as well but they don't come with a cellular data card.

Pay attention to the instructions. Cameras can be very specific on SD card size and other metrics. The Reveal X's require a Class 10 U3 card that's either 16GB or 32GB. And, as mentioned previously, make sure there's service in the areas you want to place them. The antennas are better than your phone apparently, but not THAT much better.

Some of my cameras have been stolen on trails on my friends property. Others have been stolen when they were used to see who was dumping garbage. It seems like the garbage dumpers may be seeing a light on the camera? Could that be the case? If so, are there cameras made that are not easily seen at night?
I live a ways away from the property. My friend who owns it sets up the cameras. We have had a bunch stolen. The ones that are there for game have been safer although some have been jacked. The ones used for security purposes have been immediately stolen. This pisses me off. The people steeling them dump whole cars on the property. The cameras are just money. The dumping is complete BS. It is theft of time and money. I dislike people steeling time more than anything. I can't make more time.

We just need to find out who they are. Any thoughts?

Climb the tree and put the cameras 20' up pointing down. No one will steal them if they can't get to them. If you use a cell cam up in the tree pointed down, you'll see who is going for the cam if they're trying to climb it. My tactacam has sent me pictures within 30 seconds of an animal walking by, so you'd get the picture.

Yeah, I plan on using tree steps to hang.

When they stole my tent the even took security lights that were mounted on a pole.
.
But after they removed the hinge from the gate they were able to drive right to it.

Wish I would have had a "ring" camera.

Just got my first round of pictures from the Reveal X. Very happy with it so far. Except I didn't have the settings right and used 10% of my monthly pics already Just set the delay on them appropriately from my desk at work. Love that.

Had to turn the notifications off too. Even on the daily send setting it sent a notification for each picture.
