They aren’t big but most bears aren’t. Put half a dozen on the ground and you start to realize how small Black bears really are. With two tags I wouldn’t pass up any of those. Specially on my first tag. A little secret about bears. The 175-250# bears are by far the best eating unless you love chewy meat. The 300+ bears are great for quantity of meat and even better tubs of bear grease. A big marbled full of fat bear steak tastes awesome but… they are tuff as hell. I have yet to get more then a couple pints of bear fat off a bear under 200#. But those little young ones make some fantastic steaks.

When we age bears the 200# ones which seem to be the most common size tend to be around 4-5 yrs old.

If all three were deer, you'd be looking at 2 pointers, not wall hangers. So far this year, I've passed on one about that size, and one that was obviously a yearling.
You'll never get a Big'un if you keep shooting Little'un's.
