« on: May 17, 2009, 01:19:36 PM »
Do any of you guys shoot a thompson center firehawk? If you do what loads and bullets do you shoot? Just curious what works good for you guys out of your gun. Have you tryed any new loads with it since we can use any bullets this year, and what bullets do you recommend trying out? Any info helps! Thanks

I shoot one in a 50cal.   Damn accurate and reliable!!  Running 777.  Have you tried Hornadys great plains bullets?

I dont want to knock thompson, they are accurate guns. But if you are in an area that is frequent to rain and snow I do not recommend them. The firehawk and thunderhawk are virtually the same.As goes the black diamond that everyone is so proud off. They are good guns but the main internal spring rusts like a devil.

I haven't tryed the hornady great plains, are they good bullets? I wanna try some new bullets out this year though since we can use any projectile. I shoot 120 grains of pyrodex pellets.

I've been hunting with a thunderhawk since they first came out  about 15 years ago and never had a problem with the spring rusting. I just wipe it down with a borebutter patch and I live and hunt at the base of mt. St. Helen's where we get lots of rain and snow during the hunting season.
