Hey. I will try and help clear things up to help you'all with your projects. My base price for concrete starts @ $106 a yard. After I upgrade the mix properly and add on all the charges like tax, environment, fuel, worker rights then additives like hot water or calcium or retarders or water reducers etc it is closer to $145-165 a yard. So you see how it actually works and costs. Then we must consider a pump. Line pump or boom pump? $400-$900 cost. Then do we have excavation or is owner doing that?? $500+ for that. Now if owner is doing this and I am paying for concrete do I trust them to do it well or do I end up buying 8yards of concrete more because it is too deep? Examples. Another consideration is if I am busy on jobs and I make $700 day average should I take a job which is only going to pay $400 day while I am putting my normal commitment to a Builder with many houses/work behind his schedule thus damaging relationship I have with steady work? It is tricky and homeowners do suffer when things are like this. I will be 100% honest-I have not answered or returned many many calls for last few years... I dont have all day to be on the phone or do jobs. I stick with answering friends family and past customers and contractors. It is what it is and it does suck sometimes. 400sqft patio, basic finish, pump, excavation. $7500! No problem. Shouldnt pay more than that. $5000 would be a deal. To all ya I warn there are many "Facebook" contractors, as we call them doing business. Some are good, some are not. Make sure they know what they are doing and arent just flapping the mouth and doing *censored* work. A reference from a General contractor/super or some pics from multiple work can be usefull. I dont do 100% perfect work but we try and do a very good job and not just dump 30 yards pull a sloppy broom and get pd. Thurston County... No moving for me yet...
