Walupt Lake Fishing
« on: August 01, 2022, 08:34:10 AM »
Taking the family up camping at Walupt Lake this week. Never been before.  Hows the fishing up there?  Anyone have any tips on what to use and which areas of the lake to target?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse

I caught fish trolling normal trout gear.  I saw others doing really well fly fishing too.  Have fun!

Walupt lake is one of our favorite places to camp. The fishing can be great! And that lake is packed with crayfish as well. If you are bringing a boat the ramp is a little rough and rocky. If you are bank fishing we have done well with spinners casting off the rocks on the right side of the road. It used to be selective gear rules and we did well fly fishing as well towards evening with scud patterns. If you use bait you shouldn’t have any trouble catching fish. A lot of neat places up there to explore.

Make sure you go for a hike and look for goats. You'll be super close to some of the most beautiful scenery in this state.

From Bank Bobber with worm, if no bites try weight only at the bobber ( worm drifts freely down) , and Green or Brown 1/6 oz rooster tail ( they will bite one or the other ).

Awesome!  Thanks for the tips guys! We'll definately do some exploring around the area.  Taking my sister from Iowa and her family up there so should be an adventure.

Thanks again

Nanny Ridge

Berry Patch TH to Jordan Basin depending on the hiking abilities.

So many hiking options if you’re down for a hike.

Neither are hard core but neither are easy.

You might see goats from the lake if you have a boat.

Yep, I remember the nice walupt lake times. Been visiting it for 60 years. But, a whole lot less the last 10-15 years.
Last time we went "thru" I don't think you could launch a boat. There were so many floaties, canopys, boom boxes and etc.  CRAZY Times

Me too . The good ole days .

No kidding. Used to take the boys up there for a week every summer back in the early 80s. Usually about a half dozen people camping. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. Used to troll the far side of the lake with a Ford fender and small piece of night crawler. Brought a lot of nice fish home.
