#2 in the books from a week or so ago. October bears are the best for those of us who like bear fat. Ultimate goal is for a November bear but they hard to find.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

By how worn down the teeth are, I'm guessing this one is fairly old.

Thought I would share the story. Supoosed to be a deer story for someone my brother but.... Lol while out in a new area for deer for the last tag holder in our group I decided to carry the 270 just in case there was a bear in the area. And being told recent cougar sightings too didn't hurt the thought of carrying the rifle either. First day in I saw 2 deer but no bear or cougar. But what was promising was a ton of bear sign. Seeing up to 8 piles of poop per skidder road, stumps shredded and berry patches torn up like crazy I new bears were in the area. We ended up going back in for deer to the same area. And this time was the last time I saw good weather in the forcast. So brought the rifle for bear one last time. Heard something below me in an old cut about 30 yards away first thing in the morning. No eyes on it. Either a deer or bear. Not sure. Hunting into the evening I was working at it hard all day. Nothing but a bunch of sign. Then I hear squirrels going nuts below in the drainage and big brainches breaking like crazy 120 yards below headed my way. Yeah I am sure I know what your thinking. Here comes the bear. Nope. We see a bear about a mile and a quarter away way up in another cut. Within minutes or seconds of seeing if this is a bear headed at me from below I throw my stuff on and bail on what is making the racket from below and make the trek up to the bear actually being seen. Having a good idea of where it was I creep over this edge with a stump and there it is 130 yards away still there. And wind shifts. Seeing the bears face rise to smell and sent one right into the chest dropping it on the spot. Never would have thought the last day and one one the only days I carried my rifle this season for bears I would have actually had an opportunity. Very thankful. And that puts our group at 4 for 4 with this bear season winding down. Hope that saves a few fawns in the future. We just can't get away from bears and I am not complaning. The 270 with 150 partitions did an awesome job again. Thanks to my brothers for helping as much as they did and always being there.
