European mount velvet
« on: September 06, 2022, 10:05:40 AM »
My son got his first elk and it was in velvet. We were wanting to do a European mount but not sure if that is possible with the velvet on there. Any ideas out there????

You need to get something like this on the antler ASAP! Did you do anything to preserve them? When did he shoot the animal?

Another option is to call Clint Hall (Bend area) and have him re-velvet the antlers.  He did my son's Hanford bull about 8 years ago.  Did a great job and looks better than it did when he killed the bull.  His # is 541-923-9768.  He charged me a few hundred $$ back then, probably more $$ now.  The only thing that we did before we took it to him was to strip the existing velvet off and then have our buddy do the euro mount first.

Feel free to PM me if you have other questions or want to see a picture of the final product.
