Do I take a tag on a deer scouting trip

Seeing the storms here in the NE tonight I started to wonder if this wet “cooler” weather will get bears up and moving.  I was planning a camping/scouting trip up in 105 where we had a bear wander through camp in June.  Wasn’t planning in getting a bear tag but now I kind of want to.  I’ll be up there anyway.  So do you think this weather would increase the chances of seeing a bear incidentally.

Their cheap enough, better get one. Been hauling logs out of 105 all summer, no shortage of bears.

I can't speak to your area, but what finally made me start buying bear tags was a situation on high buck where a bear came within 80 yards of me, totally oblivious, and I couldn't shoot it because I didn't have a tag.  A little later a guy up on a ridge high above me took a couple long ass shots at the bear - don't know if they got it down or not.  With a tag on hand, I could have taken an ethical shot and had some meat. Without, I got to witness that crap.  What are they, $20?

Yeah.  I would much rather have a tag and not see one than the other way around.

I don't think bears care much about weather this time of year. They just eat and move and eat and move. If you want to carry a weapon with you then buy a tag, if you are happy to hike around without the weapon then don't. If you have a desire to get a bear then buy a tag, if you have no desire then don't. If you are going to be out during bear season you always have a chance.

If you are a hunter in the state of Washington you should always have a bear and cougar tag if you hunt deer and elk.  There is no eexcuses not too.

Heck yeah!  Weather doesn't always matter.  I've seen Bears in 100 degree middle of the day.  I don't thinks its gonna be very cool, gonna be rippin hot.  Just have lotsa ice and get the bear outta there quick if you blast one.

This time of year bears don’t like sun. Could you see a bear? Sure but low odds. As soon as sun hits areas they feed in the morning they move to shade and timber. Same with evenings as canyons shade the bears emerge.

I would buy it, carry it during scouting as well as through the season.  One year I didn't and we can all guess what happened.

Bears are always moving. They eat all day and night and in between that they take naps to digest. And yes buy a tag.
