Get a good look at its ears?  To me, a young bear and a sow with younguns is mostly more quiet and timid about making noise and commotion. A big boar has got swagger and generally doesn’t care what kinda racket he makes. He ain’t shy.   And the one you saw was savvy enough to not crawl across your logjam. I’d say it was a boar. Things can make so much noise and then become as quiet as it gets. 

 Probably best not to shoot,but was it me, I would have charged him the second I believed he wasn’t  going to cross.   Think about a boar vs sows ears

I had a good view of its blocky head.  By that alone, I think it was a boar.  At least that's what I'm telling myself.  Been back twice to that spot, and there is no new sign.
