10-22 build
«
on:
September 04, 2022, 05:29:43 PM »
I’ve always wanted a 10/22 and caught the bug big time a couple weeks ago. After doing my research I’ve decided to build custom from action up. I’ve ordered all the parts and have received the receiver so far. Below are my parts:
-Tactical Solutions X-Ring ambidextrous receiver
-Tactical Solutions blue spiral x-ring barrel
-Tactical Solutions muzzle brake
-Timney trigger
-Boyds At One stock-blue
-Vortex crossfire 2-7x32 rimfire scope
I’m going to hydrodip the receiver and brake a blue smoke pattern.
When you add up the cost of these parts I realize I could buy a pretty nice centerfire rifle, but hey, I’ll have a nice plinker.
I’ll post project pics

Looks like it will be a nice build! Not sure if you’re going suppressed but either way I’m a big fan of these bolt buffers

Thanks treefarmer, hadn’t heard of these pins. I do not have a suppressor… Yet.

Love the 10-22 platform. I have several in the safe already. I usually use Volquartsen triggers. I will be interested to hear how you like the Timney.

I'm interested in how the Timney does as well. I've built quite few of these, and to date my best ones have had Volquartsen, or STI (no longer made unfortunately) receivers, Fedderson, Benchmark, Kidd, or Volquartsen barrels, and Kidd two stage trigger groups. Only thing original in any of them has been the magazine. The build always has a primary use in mind before starting.

The trigger choice was between the Volquartsen and Timney. I guess I’m partial to Timney because I have them on my hunting rifles. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Ok, finally received ally parts less the stock, that will be here in three days. I got to it and am prepping the receiver and brake for hydrodipping. I will have those parts done tomorrow and will post pics.

Hydrodipped the brake. I’ll have to touch up the ports after it dries. now on to dipping the receiver.

Love it! I put a new barrel and stock on mine, only prob is mounting the scope! Need the lowest riser possible, can’t get the scope adjusted low enough to be on. Irritating me, bought 2 different rings already.

Thanks, Trophy. Thanks for the heads up. I haven’t bought rings yet. Here’s the receiver. I’ve been hydrodipping my own stuff for about two years and always tryitto improve.

Thanks Lumpy. Barreled action is complete. Waiting on stock tomorrow. I had to take 220grit sand paper to the shank and take a couple thousands off to make it fit (per instructions). I’m nervous to see if it will shoot straight🙈

…more pics. I moved the charging handle to the left side so I can keep shooting (right hand) on gun and reach up to work handle like an ar-15.

Nice looking gun. Makes me want to build another one. Wife may not like that unless I tell her this one is hers.
