Binos(swaro el 10x42 or zeiss conquest hd 15x56) which one?
« on: September 19, 2022, 11:08:40 AM »
Looking at buying one or the other. Whats your opinion between the two? My hunting is eastside of cascades. Mainly blue mountains and the foothills.
Thanks!

Swaro Pure 12x42............  they show as much width as the EL 10's - actually a touch wider -  no reason not to bump up power.

(Yea its an extra grand tho)

After comparing some 15x56's in vortex and mavens, I'm buying the 15x56 mavens.  I currently run the 10x42 swaro, and love them, but the 15's are awesome.  I'll get the 15 or 18x56 instead of buying a spotter.  I'd go bigger than the 10x42's but they are pretty damn sweet too.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

You're comparing top end binos to a mid grade bino. That would be a simple decision. 10x and 15x are apples to oranges too in comparison, but that seems more of the question here. Had you mentioned the EL10's compared to the SLC 15's, they a guy could get into a valid discussion, but Swaro vs Vortex is pointless. :twocents:

The 12x42 Swaro Pures showed more antler detail
At 1.5 miles than 20x  Vortex head to head.

15 or 18x are for a tripod only in my opinion. I wouldn't want my binos to be hard to use not on a tripod. Very hard to hold 15 or 18x still. Shoot even 12x is a bit much for daily hand use. 10x42 EL is what I carry around in my harness and love them. I would by the pure series if I were buying now.

:yeah:
10X Swaros would be sweet in the hand and cover 90% of my Eastside hunting.
15X Conquests would be nice if I spent significant time behind a tripod...Which I don't.
I would vote for the 10X Swaros.

Swaro all day unless running mainly running off a tripod. 10x is tops for me if freehand glassing.

Find a shop that is willing to let you look through all of them outdoors, ideally at dusk.  Go in with the intent to purchase so it's worth their time.  I flew down to AZ on a trip with my wife and stopped by Outdoorsmans in Fountain Hills.  They let me look through a dozen or so glasses.  I went in thinking I was buying Leica.  I walked out with a pair of Swaro ELs.  Zeiss was 2nd place for me.  I was looking at objects 700-800 yards away at dusk and there was a noticeable difference.

Everybody's eyeballs are different.  I've talked to guys who can't stand the ELs and see better through other optics.

With high end binos, take a test drive.  It's worth it when you're spending that much money.

ELs . Just switched from SLCs to ELs and I noticed a drastic difference.

@Karl Blanchard - didn't you say you use SLC over EL?
