Quiet Elk

Hunting the West Side and had an opportunity and a great bull opening morning. I was able to step right on the herd and the bull came crashing in to 20 yards. For what ever reason I put my 30 pin on his back and shot right over him. I have been tracking the heard for a couple days and found where they bumped to. Unfortunately, they will not bugle. They are hold up in the thick stuff during the day and only seem to feed at night. What should be my next plan of attack?

Full moon waning, probably bugling, fighting, and eating all night. Wait until the moon comes up at night. Drive around the area you've seen them and do some young and stupid bull locator calls to find out where they are. Stop every .1 miles or so and call once. Wash, rinse repeat. If you get a response, start in right there before first light. Good luck.
