We'll be hunting unit 42 October 29th-Nov 6th near Parachute, CO. What can I expect for weather?

I know it's vague, but it's anyone's guess. I've hunted and lived in Colorado and I've had warm sunny days without a jacket and others have been single digits at night. Had snow, had none. Bring what you can and be adaptable.

Was in the general region in 2020 deer hunting. First two days it was single digits and snow. Then warmed up to the mid 60’s for the rest of the hunt. Bring it all

 :yeah:

We were Deer hunting close by in 2020 as well.

Snow turned to mud with the warmer temps.  Had to pull a couple rigs out of places they shouldn't have driven into.

Thanks for the input. I pulled up some historical weather data and it is all over the place during that period. I have a feeling it'll be on the colder side.

That sounds about right. But if it's 5, I'm tending the fire and smoking cigars.

John we went on a third season hunt out of Walden, CO in 2020. I’ve never hunted in such cold temperatures. As others say, plan for every type of weather. We were able to keep our torso’s and hands warm but geez my feet were miserable. It felt like my toes were going to shatter and fall off. I have Crispi’s with 200 grams of insulation and wore merino sock liners and wool outer socks. We’re planning on another trip but I’ll have new boots with bare minimum 600 grams of insulation. I have snow packs but they’re really too heavy to hike and climb those mountains with. Just offering a consideration. And wear a good warm hat and neck gaitor.

Can't we all just get along?

I hunted near Meeker last year during 3rd rifle season and it was in the 60’s everyday. Mid week almost hit 70. Elk were tough to find and definitely in the thick timber pockets. Heard it snowed the week after I left. I’d prepare for cold tho, always easier to strip layers if it warms up.
