Done till fall
« on: May 19, 2009, 08:37:37 PM »
Managed to get my 2 spring turkeys one on 4-19 and the other 5-17.  Had lots of other close calls including two jakes that I let slide 3 times before my uncle pulled a double on them and finished his season in 1 shot.  Both of my turkeys I stalked after they ignored my calling.  I did call in a decent tom from about 200 yards (which pleased me to no end) but it came in at about 90 degrees from where I was expecting and he caught me slowly swinging on him.  The first turkey had an 8" beard which was a personal best, and the second one had a 9" beard another personal best.  Not much in the way of spurs though barely over 1/2" on both birds.  I did get to see the second one strut and gobble from about 25 yards for a little bit before I blasted him, that was neat.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
