Warm Autumn Start and Deer Migration
« on: September 30, 2022, 12:03:08 PM »
It seems to me that we're having a warm start to fall this year, even in the high country. This kind of follows the trend of a long, wet, cool spring.

How do folks think this will affect deer migration/what have you seen? Do you think deer will come down from their summer ranges by the start of modern?

Any thoughts/opinions/observations welcome.

Grea question.  I don’t think we will see much migration unless we get some storms.

Ya gotta have deer first! :chuckle:

Nothing strange in the way of weather yet.

So true.

Food sources, or lack thereof, has more effect on migration than weather. If there are some hard freezes that kill vegetation, the deer will move to where the food is at.

Big bucks will hunker in brisket deep snow and stay there until Mother Nature kicks them in the be-hind. Food, water and cover is all they need….until.
