Bear Advice

Hey guys,

Question, have a friend that has access to private land with an active Black Bear moving about. He found the core area the Bear has been staying, lots of trees clawed, fresh scat, and logs torn up. The Bear is moving down to some apple trees at night and camping out in the thick during the heat of the day. He has tried to sneak in, but no luck. He cannot shoot near the Apple trees due to houses, and the best shooting lanes are in the thick bordering state land.

What would be your play?

He is looking at maybe doing a tree stand, but is unsure if he can get it set up without blowing the Bear out of the area. It is still active even though he has walked into the area. Thanks

I’d try some predator calling in the early morning and late evenings, when it’s not too hot out

Find a spot to ambush it on the way to the apple trees.   It will move toward the apple trees in daylight hours….then enter the apple trees at last light.   Find a spot 100-200 yards off the tree line and sit.
