Friend found a trail camera
« on: October 08, 2022, 07:54:06 PM »
I got a text from a friend this evening. He was hunting and found a trail camera that the strap was rotted off and was laying at the base of the tree. It had been there for quite a while the strap just disintegrated in his hand.

He brought it with him to see if he could find any info on it. Put the SD card in it and the last photos are 6/17/2019. it shows over 9999 photos and the last ones a sky pics. He has put batteries in it to see if it will work. Said that there isn't any identification on it anywhere.

He's wondering if perhaps the person has maybe passed on and no one knew anything.

Sounds like a 16GB card was maxed out with pics.  3+ years in the tree, pretty sure the original owner forgot about it. Any good pics?

Said so far a few does and fawns and a cow moose. But going thru them one by one it will take some time.

Looks like the IR lens is seen some better days.

Found one 3 years ago about in the same condition.  I didn't really know what to do, if anything.  Maybe someone set it and couldn't find it?  Was in an odd area where I wouldn't have cared anyway.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Where did he find it? My buddy had a couple just like this, same damage, one was stolen, one was lost after some logging in the area.

Just look back to posts from 2019 and see who posted a big rant that someone stole their camera.  Little did they know that they went back to the wrong tree. Lol

For reals though. Interesting.

I think if the nylon cord has rotted off, it probably passed the statute of limitations, even for the posse.

Yup...
That sounds perfect.
That should be the law ,hunter code of conduct.
Nylon strap rots then you can touch it.
