Thanks for all the info y'all.  On further calls to the PD, it's legal to shoot a bow with a proper backstop. I don't think a deer qualifies as a proper backstop.... lol. Oh well, I'm glad I looked into it before I broke the law. Thanks again!

You could argue that shooting from a tree stand gives you a huge backstop. I've always thought that a good fence, a remote gate closing device and a pile of apples would be the best way to hunt those deer.... 8)

I don't think anybody could question the ground being a backstop in that situation.  Go get that Blackie now that you con do it legally.

I spoke with Rob Wingard, the local WDFW private lands biologist and he lives in Anacortes.  Even though it may be legal to shoot a bow in city limits, he said it is illegal to launch any form of projectile at Wildlife within city limits.  He said it's illegal to use slingshots, blowguns, air rifles, bows, crossbows, muzzleloaders, shotguns and rifles.  Traps specifically used on rodents, mice, voles and rats is legal under a specific code he mentioned.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
