Fishtrap & Surrounding Area
« on: November 03, 2022, 08:03:38 AM »
With deer over and elk nearly finished I need to get my 1 year old GSP back in the field. Saw some quite old posts on Fishtrap Lake and Miller Ranch on here but was wondering if anyone's had any RECENT experience. I know they release for the youth hunt but do many birds stick around during the rest of the season? Was hoping to maybe jump shoot some ducks as well? Or would I be better off driving the extra hour to Grant county? Was looking at Gloyd Seeps out there or possibly trying a by Reservation piece.

The planter birds at fishtrap only make it a couple of days between the pressure and the coytoes.  The Ponds are pretty darn dry so not much in the waterfowl arena.  Drive West or South

I was there on a day they did a planting.  Rigs were parked about 150 yards apart down the road.  The game dept. came in with a trailer and at about every pick up they opened the doors and let a bird out.  The warden with them made the hunting party wait for about 5 min then they took off.  Might as well pay the $250 and go to a planted farm.  Hunted it a few times on non release days and have yet to see any life.
