New soles, old boots.

This post should get interesting. I can only imagine how I would act if another hunter came up to me as this post was presented.  :chuckle:

You wouldn't be appreciative if someone gave you intel that you otherwise did not have....Like, when you approach from the south on this ridge...you are walking through the bedding area.  Approach from the North or East and the herd will walk by you if you are patient enough?  I suppose being new to an area and knowing all there is to know about an area makes you a better hunter than the guy(s) that have hunted it for many years prior to your showing up.

Maybe I am misreading the OP's post, but that is what happened in our instance and most hunters were very appreciative.  Hell one hunter, a young guy actually got to sling an arrow in the following days (he missed) but he was super excited he got that intel.

If I get your post correctly, and I think I do, you want to find the owner of that boot track and give him two choices: Join us or leave us because if you don't join us, you're screwing up our personal public land that we've hunted for generations. Is that about right?

My preference is that he not screw it up at all.

There are thoughtful and decent ways to approach things when it comes to sharing public spaces, whether those are sidewalks, roads, parks, camp grounds, boat ramps, wilderness areas, etc.

And, conversely, there are utterly moronic ways to approach things, like voting for Democrats if you are a gun-owner or a hunter, for example.  ;)

Lol, it sounds like you should read up on what public land hunting means and good sportsmanship. I have a favorite hunting area and I see new people and pickers every year or two. Do I have a talk with them? Sure and it ends with "knock one down and I'll help you get it out",  or "I know where some great porcinis are." Just because generations have hunted the same spot doesn't mean you should have any expectation at all for someone else to not 'screw it up.' When you see someone else hunting, you just walk the other way.

Me personally
If it was presented halfway decently
Id love some local info

Ive also had many encounters with maroons who think they own the place

Well, since that's obviously a different sole pattern, that helps narrow it down by ~.05%.  ;)

Roughly the same odds of narrowing it down that this thread has of narrowing it down.
:dunno:

I’d pay to be a fly on the wall during the conversation between you and vibram guy.

It’s public land. That’s all we need now. People posting no trespassing on public land because they think they’re the only ones entitled to hunt it.
