From high on my pedestal
« on: October 20, 2022, 10:37:03 AM »
Sorry, working from my iPad on the run.   Not the best image, but from a sea of orange last weekend emerges a decent buck.   I thought he was 180ish, but probably closer to 170ish.   Seemed bigger in person.
Good luck this weekend everyone!

Awesome! Maybe asking for to much but was this public property general season unit?

Gorgeous buck, I think you should do a calendar of just this. All public land WA bucks, all during season that could be harvested with a general tag  :chuckle:

That’s how it all started out.   As it stands now, this year will be 85 percent Washington.

I remember the "Quest for 500" thread.  Was probably 2009??

What's your quest for now?  100?  Not being a smartass or a prick, honestly curious what you are seeing.

I think I hit 375 last year.   I lost 2 weeks of vacation, but did utilize the time I did have off more.    I travelled as far south as the Arizona line and as far north as the Canadian line.   It’s a lot tougher than it used to be.  In most states honestly.   I found as good bucks in Washington as I did in the Henry’s.   I know Washington.  I don’t know the Henry’s.

General unit WOW!  :yike: Thats a better buck than most of the special draw tagholders typically end up with on any given year.
Hard to tell from the image and brushy background, does he have cheaters and junk going on?

Two ladies and a dog.  Kind of a ghost town compared to normal.  Locals aren’t even out.

5x7 with stubs for eye guards I think.   Glare was bad, air quality sucked, and he stood broadside for a very short timeframe, then took off like a whitetail.  I was amazed to see him. He looked like a migrator but don’t know why.

I would feel fortunate to see a buck like that with my late draw tag this year

You have two great things going for you.   September had very little impact both with archery and high hunt.  The weather, and dry dry dry.   If the weather holds til after this weekend, you should have great chances at something.

That is the exact same thing I was thinking as well- within the last few yrs I think this yr will be a good yr for this tag
