Anyone use the Burstfire Annealer and prep tool? Thoughts?
« on: October 23, 2022, 06:21:04 PM »
Hi guys,

Just trying to see if there's anyone with hands on use of the Burstfire Annealer.

I don't care too much about the prep tool features. But I'm definitely open to opinions if you've used it.

Seems pretty affordable. Thinking about making that my Xmas present.

Thanks

I used an almost identical flame annealer made by Annealeez (which Burstfire seems to have copied) when I was brand new to the concept of annealing.

It was okay if I was just using one cartridge, but it was a royal pain in the butt when it came to switching up cartridges, especially when going from something small like 5.56 to 300 RUM.  Getting the angle, amount and duration of the flame just right is a PITA.  You will destroy a lot of brass.

I eventually came to realize that it was impossible to recreate exactly the same annealing results batch-to-batch of reloads.

So, frustrated, I sold it and bought an AMP Mark II Annealer with an AMP Mate.

Yep. It costs more, but it's absolute perfection every single time.

Also, the brass prep stuff on top of the machine is kind of gimmicky.  One should perform those tasks AFTER annealing and sizing.

I use the Amp and can do about 50 large Lapua cases in less than 10 minutes start to finish.    If doing just a box by the time you got a flame torch setup you are long done using the amp and can do it in the house instead of garage if that matters.

Looks exactly like the annealeze which I use and enjoy.  Are there better machines out there.....yeah....will either this one or the annealeze work for most people....yeah.  As for the prep tool on top.....just buy a prep station separate so you don't get shavings and a huge mess all over your annealer.  I use two different prep stations and they are relatively inexpensive.

Thanks for the input. I already have a brass prep station.
