Great tag and congrats! Hope you kill a giant.....But I would have been in the desert from opening day every chance I got until the snow really starts coming down in the hills......

THIS   :yeah:   There are definitely some huge bucks in the desert. Overall odds better there than in the Entiat.......until December, then its a tossup.

Entiat is not even close to what it once was. Even the later half of December it isn’t that great. You’ll see a ton of bucks lots in the 120-170 range. The mashers aren’t behind every tree. Set a goal of what you want and stick to it. Even if that means eating the tag. Boots on the ground in the desert would be my first choice of where to hunt.

With all that’s been said you’ll most likely never get the tag again, take the buck that suits you and don’t look back.😉

Unfortunately our mule deer herds in Washington are declining at a rapid pace not ever to recover IMHO.

You may have wanted to be out there today.  The rut fired full bore.

I appreciate all the positive feedback.  Life conflicts have me looking at December now and focusing on the migration.  It is encouraging to see the snow hitting, but hard to sit on the bench and wait!

@Terminalist
Update?
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Wondering if this was the buck shot in the entiat during the late archery season.  If so the hunter should be proud that they shot it while a bow hunter was stalking in and about 10-20 yards from a shot.   Would have been a decent first buck for the new archery hunter….but not even close to 190.  Like 4 years of good horn grown from 190.
