Wyoming 2022 antelope hunt with photos
« on: October 29, 2022, 11:52:55 AM »
I’ve been travelling to Wyoming since 2005 to hunt. I’ve often told myself that hunting is my excuse to visit. I would want to continue going to Wyoming even if I weren’t hunting.

This year my primary objectives were to find a nice buck antelope, and to fill our freezer with meat.

On the trip down I went through Yellowstone to get my fill of bison, waterfalls, bubbling cauldrons, and scenic views.

First up was the buck antelope. I spent a couple days looking at lots of average animals before I found one the second day worth pursuing. A mile-long stack got me within range, and a shot from my 257 Weatherby ended the pursuit.

After the buck I spent several days in the Buffalo/Sheridan area filling antherless and doe/fawn licenses. Antelope is our family’s favorite red meat. I ended up with two whitetails does and two doe antelope to fill the freezer for the year.

A highlight of the trip came while spending some time in the Teton National Forest. I happened to see some movement on a hillside, and upon closer look determined they were three grizzlies. I got close enough to see the claws, teeth, and rippling muscles on the bears with a telephoto camera lens.

My favorite animal to hunt with gun and camera is the pronghorn. There is something about their coloration, their eyesight and speed, their curiosity, and the wide open country they tend to inhabit that appeals to me.

I picked out a few photos from the trip that I hope summarize the experience.

Incredible photos! Beautiful country!

How did you string all those photos into one post?

Looks like a pretty dang great trip to me!  Great pictures and a nice goat to boot!  Thanks for sharing!

I went down to Wyoming near Gillette a couple of years ago.  Tough hunt with the private ground but still an amazing experience.  I need to just make it happen and go back...
