Eastside Quality Bull
« on: November 02, 2022, 09:02:53 AM »
I don't know where my Washington draw luck came from but since 2020 I have no complaints. Spring bear and Mountain Goat in 2020 and now a Quality bull tag this year.

I arrived the Friday before the opener, only to be greeted by the first winter storm of the year. Over the next five days it snowed, was foggy, snowed some more, fogged in some more and on and on. When the fog did lift, we were able to spot bulls scattered throughout the unit. We found good bulls everyday but nothing that we were quite ready to commit to. On the third evening my buddies spotted what looked like a good bull as Dirk, Jon and I were watching a few other bulls in the timber. I let Dirk and Jon know I was going to go get a better look at the bull and see if he was one we wanted to invest some time in. We got there at 4:30 and as soon as I looked through the spotter I decided he was worth going after.
The only decision that I had to make was waiting until the next morning or bailing straight of the mountain and trying to get a shot that night. After a few seconds I was grabbing my gun and pack and we were running down the ridge. We got there in short order and still had 30 minutes of light left. After what seemed like forever I was able to dig the bull back up and got bedded in to make the shot. It wasn’t my best shooting but after three shots found their mark it was all over but the hard work.  Thank God we had some amazing guys offer to walk their horses down so we just had to break him down and get him to the trail.

PLEASE don't ask the unit and if you know the unit PLEASE don't say

How about… how many points did it take you to draw? Haha.

I think I have 19 now. Still feels like I might not ever draw anything, though.

So there is hope!

Great bull, congrats.

PS- I used the EZ Suk’R and Amp mouth reeds to call in a nice bull for my dad this year. That new call is definitely a good closer!
