Cat on trail cam
« on: November 07, 2022, 07:15:13 AM »
I've got a couple cams set up in prep for late black tail.  I've seen this doe coming down this trail everyday for almost two weeks.  Then Saturday night this guy showed up.

1.  This is definitely a cougar, correct?
2.  What are the chances he pushed any deer out of this area totally?
3.  Are cats moving a lot, or how possible would it be to run in to him?

I think you got a bobby there, the patches on the inside of the leg and no tail.   I can see where you might think the tail is tucked right down alongside the leg there, but typically they don't hold them that way.   The leg is also the wrong shape

So I'm calling it a bobby with pretty good certainty

I'm going with a bobcat also body isn't long enough to be a cougar. As KF said it does have some spotting on the inside of its legs.

Looks to be too small for a cougar.  Bobby or house cat would be my guess.

Sure looks like a cougar with the long tail visible in the first pic to me. I thought it was pretty obvious but maybe I’m crazy.
