Shot my big buck this year through the throat patch, he was bedded with sage obscuring his body. Under 100 yds

I prefer behind the shoulder. I like shoulder meat. I prefer to not take hard quartering shots because you are forced to sacrifice a shoulder. However, I also take the shot I'm given if I don't have time to wait. I have shot a number of animals in the neck the last few years with predictable results. However, the neck is a small target and I have seen animals not die from neck shots.

I really like a neck shot inside of 50 if the situation is right. Right behind the shoulder for anything else.

Situation has to be right, but agree I like the neck shot best.
