When sizing a sabot for a bullet does it matter if the sabot petals extend beyond the shoulder of the bullet?   For example a Harvester Black Crushed Rib and Hornady 300gr  .452 XTP, the petals extend just slightly past the shoulder.  Taking the same crushed rib and using either the Hornady 250gr .452 XTP or FTX, the petals extend around a 1/4" or so past the shoulder.

Does it matter in regards to accuracy or anything else, or should a short sabot be used for the 250gr bullets?

Thank you,

Dave

I've never had a problem with it.
