Beaver dam question
« on: November 11, 2022, 11:32:19 AM »
I located a beaver dam on a pond and got permission to trap. It has one active crossover and several castor mounds.

My only beaver trap is one of Bruce's 12x12 swim-throughs.

If you were me, would you set the crossover or would you create a castor mound set on the dam?

Thank you for you help!

Ok.  Would you just fence it to kind of funnel the beaver?  Also would you put any castor lure on the trap or create a mound downstream to yry to attract the to the dam?

Yep, like Jake said. Sometimes you have to get a little creative to get that cage to sit in there affectively. Some guide sticks, fencing and or a dive stick can help for sure but for the most part the critters will use that crossover most of the time already

As has been said set the downstream side of the crossover. I would probably not use any scent. Some scent well below the set won't hurt but I think not necessary.
