Muley Crazy
« on: May 22, 2009, 04:55:05 PM »
OK, so I am healing up from hernia surgery, and just before I go under the knife I swing by the bookstore and look for some good reading material.  I see a copy of Muley Crazy, so I grab it.  I have read it once before, and it wasn't too bad.  This issue is their annual "Mexico-Sonora" issue.
Now, don't get me wrong.  If I had the $$, I would love to go down to Sonora and chase those big muleys.  But good lord, why do they dedicate an entire issue to it?  I know they're big bucks, but every story is almost identical.
1.  I flew into Hermosillo
2.  I got into a pickup with a big rack and a seat and a guide
3.  We drove until one of us saw a monster buck
4.  I "stalked" him
5.  I shot the biggest buck of my life

Am I being cynical here?  Am I off base?

Like I said, I would love to do it sometime, but to dedicate an entire magazine issue to 20 versions of the same story seemed a little much.

I am an absolute Muley addict, and I feel the magazine is a PIECE OF *censored*.   The whole magazine is nothing but money.  There will be some *censored* on here that will say OH Bone is jealous.   Whateva.
Hope the surg goes well. Keep us posted.

I 100% agree. This is the kind of crap that will ruin hunting. I will never fault someone for making a living but I dont have to like it.

bone...you're just jealous.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I just look at the big bucks....I remember a big Oregon buck in there shot in Baker Co., the guy flew in, rode a quad all over the ranch looking for this huge buck, could not find it, almost gave up, looked again, found it, shot it, paid his $10,000 and got the hell outta there! I don't care for storys like that, the buck was a pig though!!!

  I just read the articles  :chuckle:  Im not a huge fan of the magazine, but i do have a pretty cool sweatshirt that they make with deer tracks going up the sleeves, and I always get a " Whoa, thats cool... where did you get it?  "  It would be nice to get a buck as big as the smallest one they ever put in that magazine.  Good luck with the surgery

Just buy the govenors tag for 70,000 from Arizona, then hire team mossback or Ryan to guide you.  They'll watch him all summer for you and know what watertank to shoot him off of during the fall drought.   ;)  Then one of those is yours.

I am jealous I don't get to spend much time in the Kiabab.
